I personally have had a lot of dark, unwanted energies come into my life over the past three months while grieving for a lost family member, I had really found it hard to move forward from my grief. In the mean time my family and I suffered a physical attack and the general energies of the world around us have been horribly dark.
I don't believe it's just myself though, I believe that the world as a whole has been feeling a heavier, darker energy and now we are all beginning to recover and move towards cleansing it away so that we can move forward from where we are right now.
The timing works out well for us here in the Southern Hemisphere, next week we will be celebrating Imbolg, and shortly after that it's Ostara. We're already moving towards our Spring Cleaning phase as we begin to dust off the cobwebs and prepare ourselves for the warmer months.
I believe that it's also no coincidence that I recently received the book A Mystic Guide to Cleansing and Clearing by David Salisbury for review. The timing was absolutely perfect!

A Mystic Guide to Cleansing and Clearing by David Salisbury
This book is only being launched in September (once again, perfect time for some serious spring cleaning) but I was really fortunate to have the chance to read it before hand.
I strongly recommend this book for anybody who works with any kind of Magickal, spiritual or energy based practices. Although clearly Pagan based, it is very generalized so that anybody from any chosen spiritual path can take the practices within the book and adapt it for their own personal uses.
Firstly I have to say, this book is incredibly easy to read, David Salisbury makes you feel like you're having a chat with a very knowledgeable friend, who has not just knowledge, but clearly experience on the matters of cleansing and clearing energies and spaces.
I began using the practices he mentioned right from the beginning and I can assure you, I will be using them for a long time to come. I believe all of us need to do spiritual cleansing from time to time, and having this book to reference on your book shelf is a definite must.
What really sold me was David's approach. First we need to take care of ourselves and what we are carrying around in our own energies before moving on to our outer environments. Too often we try to see darkness as an outside problem instead of looking to ourselves first, which is where most of our darkness actually comes from. Once we are able to take care of ourselves, cleanse and clear our own personal energetic dirt away, only then are we able to more effectively cleanse outer environmental energies.
A huge thank you to David for writing this book (and allowing me to review it), it is definitely something the world needs.
