Interesting Plants

I hope you had a blessed Imbolc this past Saturday for all our friends celebrating in the south (and Lughnasadh for our friends celebrating in the north).

The wife and I did our first Spring plant shopping this past Sunday, and we came away with some real gems, including a jasmine creeper (Jasmine, especially white star, is my favourite flower).

We however came across a new range of succulent flowers that really took our fancy, they are called Crassulas. The one we ended up purchasing is called the Crassula Multicava and is apparently also known as the Fairy Crassula. It is an evergreen succulent that loves the shade (so if you have a lot of trees, this is the plant for you) and it gets the prettiest little pink flowers on it. This plant attracts birds and butterflies to the garden.

After doing some research I discovered it is used as an emetic (medicine to induce vomiting) and when sprinkled around the home it is used for protection against lightning.

Here are pictures of some of the prettiest flowers that we took snapshots of during our shopping experience.

This is a beautiful two tone flower from an Aloe

This flame looking flower comes from a plant know as the Lotto plant... and you had to win the lotto to be able to afford it too..

We fell in love with this beautiful purple flower. A member of the chrysanthemum family.
