FINDING INNER PEACE

The moon is full this week (20th July 8am SAST/UCT+2), and I must admit I am quite ready  to have the energies of the past month come to a conclusion. Not only has my own energy been out of whack, but perhaps that of everyone's energy around me.

I am planning on doing a full moon cleansing, burning a lot of sage and releasing negative, unwanted energies and preparing myself to move forward with fresh new energies. From tomorrow I will start making plans for the projects I want to start over the period of the next new moon, At least once or twice a year I tend to feel that I need a change in focus, and this is one of those times, so as you can imagine this has lead me to doing a lot of reflecting and meditating lately, which takes me to my Pagan find of the week.

Pagan find of the week

Insight Timer app
I was chatting to a friend a couple of weeks ago, saying how "out of sorts" I felt and she suggested to me that I try this app (available through Play stores and iStores).

It's an app that helps you to stick to daily meditations practices. It gives you access to almost any type of meditation imaginable, from gratitude to mindfulness, yoga meditations, music (my favorite being singing bowls), meditations for clearing and cleansing, balancing your chakras, healing, abundance, prosperity, you name it and you will probably find it on this app.

There are two versions available. A free version that give you access to thousands of recorded meditations, as well as a personal meditation timer that allows you to time your meditations spent in silence. You can also invite friends and join groups of like-minded individuals. I myself have joined a few groups for fellow Pagans who like to meditate too, as well as one for gratitude.

You can follow your progress, see how many meditations you've done, how much time you have spent in meditation, and watch as you reach personal milestones as you track your progress during your search for inner peace. It even has a nifty option for you to see how many people are meditating at any given time at any point in the world.

There is also a paid version that offers a few extra perks, like different bell and gong sounds used in quiet meditations, etc. Though the free version does offer plenty of choices for the everyday user.

I personally can't stop singing its praises, I have fallen in love with this app and I'm determined to share it with anyone who will listen (or read). So feel free to give it a try and get ready to become a much more relaxed and balanced person.

Teddy Bear Magick

A few weeks ago I considered creating a post on Teddy Bear Magick but it wasn’t until last week, when I had a particularly hard week to get through, that I managed to get all the elements together for you.

Teddy Bear Magick is perfect to help children through traumatic experiences, and even adults.  It is something that takes time to create, giving you the opportunity to powerfully imbue the toy / talisman that you are creating and it is something made with such personal care and love, that it can carry an immense amount of power.

The act of creating a plush toy or teddy bear from scratch, and creating it uniquely for a magical purpose in its own is incredibly therapeutic. So if, like me, you love to sew or create things with your hands, creating a plush toy by hand is definitely worth a try.

The most common reasons for this type of magic is to create a talisman for one of the following reasons:
  1. Protection and safety
  2. Healing from trauma
  3. Restful dreams and sleeping
  4. To bring calm to a negative situation

The process is really easy, you make the toy, with your intent in mind, constantly imbuing it with the energy you desire. Once it is complete you bless it within your sacred space. Then you place it somewhere, where it can continue to do its work. Usually in a safe corner or beside the bed.

Pagan Find for the week

I have decided to feature this sewing pattern as it includes all the requirements necessary to allow you to be able to personalise it when creating a plush toy for any magical undertaking.

  • I suggest embroidery as a finishing technique, as  this allows the creator to add elements and symbols to the plush. For this particular toy I embroidered pentacles on the palms of the plush toy. Another option would be to use fabric paints.

  • The arms and legs are stitched on separately. This gives the creator the opportunity to include elements such as dried herbs or gemstones into the plush. For this particular toy I included Rose quartz for self love, amethyst for protection and the feeling of safety and red jasper to clear away any negative energies.

  • The plush toy has an opening at it’s based, which allows the user to include anything inside the main body of the toy, such as sachet’s of dried herbs, or any blessed items that can be added at a later stage.

  • The patch on the tummy gives the user the opportunity to put a few drops of essential oils on the plush toy when it is blessed, and continually while it is being used.

For our Pagan fans who take purchase any patterns in my Etsy store, use the coupon code WICCA001to receive an additional 10% discount on your order.

New Things New Moon

Today is the day of the new moon and my thoughts lately have been very focused on starting new things in my life, even more so than usual at this time of the lunar cycle.

I’m learning to not just let go of old ways, thoughts and concepts that don’t work for me, but I’m also learning to let go of any guilt that might come along with it. I have to admit, when I get excited about trying out something new, I get very excited and tell everyone about it, but if the moment comes when I realise it simply doesn’t work for me, I tend to feel terribly guilty when I have to tell people that I will no longer be going along that path.

I suppose it’s part of our human nature to almost be expected to choose to do one thing and stick with it. My own business changes at least every six months, sometimes it’s a small change in direction, but sometimes it’s a HUGE shift in focus that changes the business model completely. This is something that through the years I have learned is necessary in order to ensure that both my business and myself survive.

Change is necessary for us to progress and survive, but a part of us will always fight that change. It’s up to us as individuals to discover what makes us fight necessary changes, and work on those “fear” based parts of ourselves.

Personally, my process is as simple as a meditation, and some quiet time to myself to just think things through... Some burning incense and a cup of tea at midnight, in a barely lit, very quiet room can sometimes do wonders for helping me to sort out the chaos that may be going on in my head as I take on new challenges, or leave old ones behind.
