Lughnasadh Blessings

“May your harvest be bountiful & sustain you through the cold winter months ahead.

 May the love of friends, family & The Goddess warm you always.”

                                                 

    Lughnasadh (February 1-2  Southern Hemisphere), approaches as we begin to prepare, I would like to share some various ways of celebrating.

    To begin, I believe that on any Sabbat, (weather permitting), it is a perfect time to connect with nature. Being able to witness the changing of seasons as we celebrate each Sabbat, is Magick in itself. Take time to be outside, even if just in your garden. If the Sun is out, embrace it's light and warmth and feel it energize you. Give thanks to The Sun God of your preference, (or all of them if you wish), and be one with them.

Celebrate this harvest festival by breaking bread with friends and family. Bake from scratch or buy a fresh loaf from your local baker, it does not matter, for the action of sharing harvested grains with loved ones, and being in good, loving company, is what makes this Sabbat meaningful.

Lughnasadh is also a great time to finish a project, physical or personal. Take this time to tie any loose ends, as this is a harvest of completion. Finish what you can so that during the winter months, your energy is conserved.

Burn Frankincense or Sandalwood, eat abundantly and well, enjoy some mead with company and embrace the beginning of winter by a hearth of love and comfort. And although the days may begin to look dark as winter moves in, remember that for your entire life you have been absorbing thousands of particles directly from our Sun, and therefore, you always shall have sunshine in your life, even in the dark times - By Omorose

Now is a great time to start thinking long term about earning more money. Consider saving and investing, or even working towards a higher, better paying position. This recent new moon also bodes well to starting such new projects.

STRENGTH OF A MIGHTY GIANT

Orion, Greek God and well known Constellation, who was once a giant among men, now remains a giant in our night sky. A God of strong will and determination to move forward, is a God we can rely on to help us move forward in our lives. Sometimes when we are facing struggles, we become afraid of our future, and our fears can hold us back. Be assured, you are not alone.

           

If you are at a dark place right now in your life, as you meditate, call upon Orion for strength and courage. Imagine his constellation right in front of you. Feel his light resonate through your entire body, feeling love and strength. Like Orion you too can walk on water, so as you look beneath you, you see a body of water trickling beneath your feet, only this water is a representation of what is holding you back. These fears and worries that you face, are fluid, they are not permanent. Like water, they can be redirected. Walk upon this water, and with each step forward, the waves that begin to ripple, are those of change. You are redirecting your fears and worries behind you. You are unstoppable, like The Mighty Orion, you now have the strength and courage of a giant. You now take the first "giant" step into the next stage of your life.

           

So on a clear night look for him, you can't miss him. Northern hemisphere, look towards the southwestern sky. Southern, the northwestern sky. And even when you cannot see him, know he is there keeping watch over you, giving you strength and courage as you continue your journey.
